Meghan MCCain has spared no time airing her disapproval of Republican candidate Newt Gringrich and his wife Callista. The television personality, blogger and daughter of Senator John MCCain tore into Mrs Gringrich during a slightly awkward round-the-table discussion on MSNBC on Tuesday (December 20, 2011).
The 27-year-old, no stranger to controversy herself, criticized Callista's cold personality and for romancing Newt when he was still married to his second wife, saying, "I think the fact that she was a third wife and a mistress and is coming off somewhat icy and her reputation of being somewhat controversial within their campaign is doing damage". Newt, who is considered the closest rival to Mitt Romney for the 2012 Republican nomination, has been married on two previous occasions - both of which ended in divorce after adultery scandals. He had previously told ABC News that he had to "go to God for forgiveness", adding, "I've had to seek reconciliation". During a recent Republican debate in Texas, Gov. Perry attacked Gingrich, saying, "If you cheat on your wife, you'll cheat on your business partner". Despite her father's previous tussles with Obama, MCCain acknowledged the President's close knit family image, saying, "The fact that the Obamas just had one marriage together and seemed very much in love and seemed very much partners with the fist pumping had - in my opinion - a lot of impact".
As mentioned, Meghan is no stranger to controversy and her 2010 memoir Dirty Sexy Politics contained a scathing criticism of SARAH PALIN.
