Leighton Meester - Meester Didn't Know She Resembled Kelly

The Gossip Girl actress struck up a close friendship with Kelly when she was just 16, after they were both hired to shoot a commercial for skin product Clearasil in South Africa.

But Meester admits she had no idea how closely she resembled her pal until she came face-to-face with Maureen Kelly.

She says, "We've known each other since (I was) 16 and we went on this trip to Africa to shoot these two commercials and we were like, 'Can we be friends forever?'

"And I never thought about the similarities in looks until I met her mother and I was like, 'Oh my god, she looks so much like my mother!'"

Their resemblances led to the stars landing the lead roles in new film The Roommate, about a girl who becomes obsessed about her college roommate.
