Meek Mill - Meek Mill's Home Damaged By Hurricane Sandy

Rapper Meek Mill had mixed emotions over the release of his new album Dreams And Nightmares - because he was too busy worrying about the safety of his friends and family in the wake of Hurricane Sandy as the debut hit retailers.

The hip-hop star was preparing to celebrate Tuesday's (30Oct12) album release, but the launch was overshadowed on Monday (29Oct12) when superstorm Sandy lashed America's East Coast and caused widespread devastation and destruction.

Mill's own home in his native Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was also damaged in the storm and he insists sales figures were the last thing on his mind.

He says, "This storm has been crazy. This is my first release, and I'm supposed to be so happy for it. But the same day my album came out, I was more worried about how my family was holding out and a tree falling on my house.

"My focus wasn't on stores being closed. I had a packed house, filled with my family, making sure they were good during this storm. I made a great album and it will sustain itself. Real people do real s**t; my fans will buy the album when they are able to."

The damage caused by Sandy wasn't the only low for Mill this week - he was handcuffed and briefly detained by cops in Philadelphia on Wednesday (31Oct12) following a traffic stop. The hiccup forced him to miss his own album release party. He was not officially arrested and was released without charge.
