Meat Loaf to say goodbye with farewell tour

Meat Loaf is saying goodbye with a farewell tour.

The 'I'd Do Anything For Love' singer is ending his career in style by playing a UK and Germany tour titled 'Last At Bat', which is being described as a ''final goodbye'' to his fans.

Meat Loaf's shows will be split into two halves on stage, where the singer will first belt out hits spanning the whole of his career before performing the whole of his 1977 album 'Bat Out Of Hell' in full for the last time.

The legendary album is one of the biggest-selling records of all time after having sold over 45 million copies since its original release 35 years ago. The record - written and composed by Jim Steinman - is so popular that it is still selling 200,000 copies every year, which secures it a constant spot in the UK chart.

Speaking about the huge success of his music and his upcoming tour, Meat Loaf said: ''When Jim and I first came together, we couldn't have dreamt the profound effect 'Bat Out Of Hell' would have on both our lives, and the lives of our fans around the world.

''I know the fans will enjoy the show as much as I enjoyed putting it together.''

The rocker - whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday - hopes to make it up to fans this time around after cancelling his 2007 tour due to a cyst on his vocal cords. Although he was well enough to play his 'Mad, Mad World Tour' across the US in June, four dates still ended up being cancelled after Hurricane Sandy struck.

Tickets for the UK shows go on sale at 9am on Friday (21.12.12) and are available from www.meatloaf.net

Further European dates are expected to be announced in due course.
