Mclaren's Family Wants A 'Minute Of Mayhem' For Funeral
MALCOLM MCLAREN will receive a raucous send-off on Thursday (22Apr10) - his son is encouraging fans to take part in a "minute of mayhem" on the day of the punk icon's funeral.
The former Sex Pistols manager lost his battle with cancer earlier this month (Apr10) and will be laid to rest in London later in the week (22Apr10).
The memorial service will be preceded by a funeral procession through the streets of north London. Fans are being encouraged to line the route as the cortege passes, but the family has requested the service itself remains private.
And MCLaren's relatives have asked devotees to pay their last respects by shunning a traditional minute's silence and taking part in a "minute of mayhem" ahead of the funeral.
The star's son Joseph Corre wants fans to play music and crank up their stereos at midday on 22 April (10).
In a post on his Humanade website, he writes, "Malcolm MCLaren's funeral will be held on Thursday 22nd April. In celebration of Malcolm's life we are asking people to observe a MINUTE OF MAYHEM at midday on 22nd April. Put on your favourite records and let it RIP!"
