Mccartney Thrills New York With Top 20

PAUL MCCARTNEY thrilled industry insiders and a handful of lucky fans by performing 20 hits and new tunes at an intimate New York show last night (13Jun07). Despite only announcing the gig at the 700-capacity Highline Ballroom yesterday, the venue was packed as MCCartney celebrated debuting his new album Memory Almost Full at number three on the U.S. album charts. The former Beatles star obviously liked the intimate surroundings, telling the sell-out crowd, "We should do this more often." As well as new tunes Only Mama Know and Dance Tonight, MCCartney also treated the crowd to classic Beatles songs. Tunes included Drive My Car, The Long and Winding Road, Blackbird, Back in the U.S.S.R., Get Back and Hey Jude. He also paid tribute to "fallen heroes" John Lennon, George Harrison and his late wife Linda by dedicating Hear Today to the trio. The New York show followed a similar intimate concert MCCartney performed in London last week (07Jun07).
