Mccartney Plays Homecoming Gig

Sir PAUL MCCARTNEY will play a massive stadium gig in his English home city of Liverpool next year (08). The former Beatle will headline Liverpool FC's Anfield stadium on 1 June, 2008 as part of the city's year-long celebration for being nominated European Capital of Culture. MCCartney says, "I'm very excited about Liverpool being Capital of Culture 2008. We have a fantastic series of events which are sure to get you excited too. "I'm very proud of the city and I look forward to welcoming you all and showing you a good time. It's going to be a great year." Around 35,000 tickets will be available for the show which will also star The Eurythmics' Dave Stewart, Echo + The Bunnymen, and Shack and Ian Broudie, formerly of the Lightening Seeds. Fellow Beatle Ringo Starr will appear in Liverpool The Musical on 12 January, 2008 as part of the celebrations.
