Mccartney Plays For 40,000 In Tel Aviv

LATEST: More than 40,000 music fans turned Sir Paul McCartney's first show in Israel into a huge celebration on Thursday night (25Sep08).

The former Beatle greeted the audience in Hebrew before performing at a peace concert in Tel Aviv - four decades after the Fab Four were banned from the country.

The Friendship First concert featured 31 hits from MCCartney's music career, including Beatles songs, Wings hits and solo tunes.

The Brit also performed late Beatles bandmate John Lennon's Give Peace A Chance.

He finished the set with Fab Four favourites Yesterday and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

my sentiments exactly. hopefully he is back in the UK by now. and hopefully his message of peace "sunk in" with all who had the privelege of seeing him live.

Thank God he is safe and unharmed and that it went off without a hitch.
