Mccartney Hurt By Linda's Poor Reviews
SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY was furious when pal MICK JAGGER criticised his late wife LINDA's musical talent. The ex-Beatle taught the photographer to sing and play the keyboards and eventually included her in the line-up for his band Wings - but the question of her contribution to the group's success has been an ongoing source of controversy amongst fans and musicians alike. He says, "(The criticisms were) like oil off a duck's back - but harder to shift. Y'know, it wasn't easy. But she was tough. The thing is we wanted to be together and we said, 'What right has anyone got to say we shouldn't be together in a band?' And the world seemed to think it was its affair. "So we had people like (Mick) Jagger saying, 'He's got his old lady in the band, oh f**king hell.' I know Mick, he's sort of a mate, y'know. I would think, "Oh, f**king thanks a lot... tosser." Linda MCCartney died of cancer in 1998.
