And this is bad for cancer charities how? Who would want to be affiliated with McCartney, when he has embraced PETA's hate group after it has boasted to the media that it had dispatched its members and supporters, dressed up as Devils, to dance on the grave of someone they didn't like to traumatize the man's family. Not many cancer charities I know of would want to affilate their organizations with arrogant, ignorant celebrities who support hate groups like PETA: http://www.sun-herald.com/NewsArchive2/072102/tp5np15.htm

Just because animal-testing is required by the federal government does not mean that it is necessary to human health or that it is morally justified. Many scientists insist that if we expended the same amount of time and money on alternative research methods, we would get better results. In fact, in a USDA press release January 12, 2006, Health & Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt said: "Currently, nine out of ten experimental drugsfail in clinical studies because we cannot accurately predict how they will behave in people based on laboratory and animal studies."More importantly, you do not settle whether experimentation is justified by merely showing that it is of some value to humans.
