Mccartney Can Only 'Conjure Up' A Handful Of Beatles Hits
SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY rarely performs requests from fans wanting to hear the BEATLES back catalogue - because he can't remember most of the Fab Four's hits.
MCCartney was honoured at the White House on Wednesday (02Jun10) when he received the third Gershwin Prize for Popular Song from the Library of Congress.
And in a press conference before his performance for U.S. President Barack Obama, MCCartney admitted he could only "conjure up" a handful of songs from the Beatles' huge 300-song collection.
He told reporters, "I know my songs on tour because I learn them before I go on tour, but there's just too many of them for me to retain them. So I don't know them all. But I can learn!
"The Long and Winding Road, Lady Madonna and Blackbird aren't a problem. There are certain ones I can conjure up. But the truth is, people say, 'Oh go on, do that one,' and I have to say, 'I have no idea how it goes.'"
