Mcavoy: 'Scotty Needs More Depth'
LATEST: JAMES MCAVOY has reservations about accepting the role of SCOTTY in a forthcoming STAR TREK movie - because he doesn't want to become typecast.
THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND star fuelled speculation last month (FEB07) he would appear in the latest installment of the sci-fi franchise - a prequel to the 1960s TV series written by LOST creator J.J. ABRAMS.
But MCAVOY believes the role would need greater depth before he would consider taking the part - and wouldn't want it to just focus on his Scottish heritage.
He says, "I love Star Trek but Scotty was just shown as a Scotsman, and nothing else."
