Mcavoy Glad Golden Globes Was Pulled

Actor JAMES MCAVOY was relieved the lavish Golden Globes ceremony was cancelled this year (08) - because he hates being caught on camera at awards ceremonies. The Scottish star enjoyed a low-key celebration with his Atonement co-stars and production team when the British drama was named Best Film at the Golden Globes press conference earlier this month (13Jan08) - he splashed around in the private swimming pool at Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont hotel. And MCAvoy admits it was a "much more chilled-out experience" instead of the usual Golden Globe formalities. He adds, "We've eaten very nice pasta washed down with lots of champagne. "I can't deny it was a bit of a relief not to be sitting in a ballroom or an auditorium with a camera up your nose." The 2008 Golden Globes was reduced to a press conference as a result of the ongoing Hollywood writers' strike.
