Queen - May Backing Mercury Movie

QUEEN star BRIAN MAY has thrown his support behind an upcoming biopic of his late bandmate FREDDIE MERCURY, insisting he's "very excited" to see SACHA BARON COHEN tackle the role.
It was announced last year (10) that the British funnyman will portray the tragic rock icon in a new movie, penned by acclaimed screenwriter Peter Morgan.
May has now confirmed work has commenced on the film, which will begin shooting later this year (11) ahead of a planned 2012 release.
A message from May posted on Queen's official website reads, "Work is now fully under way for the much-vaunted feature film on the life of Freddie. Peter Morgan has delivered a first draft of the movie, which everyone is very excited about, and Sacha Baron Cohen is chomping at the bit to get into the role, in a way which certainly would delight Freddie!
"The whole team (is) now working on preparing for a shoot later this year, and a release in the late Autumn of 2012."
