Matthew Perry Is Back! 'Go On' Pulls In 18.5 Million Viewers

Could 'Go On' be the series that Matthew Perry has be searching for since his departure from 'Friends'? The actor of course starred as the quick-witted Chandler on the long-running comedy series, though has struggled to cement himself in a similarly popular role since, despite a couple of well-received movies.

He was praised for his work in Aaron Sorkin's 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip', though that series was cancelled - some would suggest prematurely - after 22 episodes. A recent performance in 'Mr Sunshine' failed to land positive reviews, and speculation of an addiction to prescription drugs once again reared its ugly head. However, things could be turning round for the star, whose new show 'Go On' premiered its pilot episode after NBC's primetime Olympics coverage on Thursday (August 10, 2012). The show pulled in a solid 18.5 million viewers, with a 6.4 rating among adults 18-49 from 11.00pm-11.30pm. That was down substantially from its Olympics coverage, though the numbers are still significant. The bar has well and truly been set for 'Go On', which will begin airing on Tuesday September 11, 2012. The show sees Matthew Perry play Ryan King, a sportscaster who joins a support group while trying to move on from his late wife's death.

The show will no doubt benefit from airing after the third season of 'The Voice' when it begins in September.
