Matthew Morrison - Matthew Morrison Met Barack Obama While Dressed As A Nazi

Matthew Morrison was mortified when he first met U.S. President Barack Obama, because the Glee star was dressed as a Nazi stormtrooper at the event.
The actor/musician was invited to perform at the annual Kennedy Center Honours in Washington, DC, in December (10) to pay tribute to Mel Brooks, and he sang a version of the director's well-known song, Springtime for Hitler.
Morrison dressed in full Nazi uniform - complete with Swastika - for the performance, and he was still wearing the controversial costume later in the evening when he met the U.S. President.
He tells British TV show Loose Women, "We were honouring Mel Brooks and I sang Springtime for Hitler in a full Nazi stormtrooper outfit. It was actually the first time I met Obama, and I was wearing... I had a Swastika on and stuff. I was, like, 'This isn't how I envisaged meeting you, but hello Mr. President!"

One Year Later, Cory Monteith Is Not Forgotten By Lea Michele And "Glee" Friends 4285653 News

The anniversary of Cory Monteith’s death has been a trying time for his loved ones. After his father gave an interview talking about his estranged son, Monteith’s former girlfriend Lea Michele, took to Twitter for her own tribute. Michele, who acted opposite Monteith on Fox’s musical comedy Glee, posted a photo of her real life and on-screen partner, adding: “We hold you in our hearts today, and every day we remember your smile. We will love you and miss you always.”

Following Monteith's death, Lea Michele took some time, before returning to work, filming a new season and releasing her debut record and first book.

Monteith was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room on July 13, 2013. His death added new fuel to the treatment versus persecution debate for drug addicts. Monteith, who had had a turbulent childhood, had previously admitted to struggling with drug abuse in his teenage years. His death threw his friends and co-stars in confusion and resulted in a hiatus for Glee. The show later returned with a special tribute episode for Monteith, so that viewers could have a proper fairwell with the actor and his character. In his own way of commemorating Cory’s life, showrunner Ryan Murphy shared a screencap from the episode over the weekend.

Glee Stars Lea Michele And Matthew Morrison Mourn The Untimely Death Of Cory Monteith 3762955 News

The death of Cory Monteith, whose body was discovered in a Vancouver hotel room on Saturday, has devastated his friends and co-stars, according to sources. The Mirror reports that Monteith’s fiancée, Lea Michele, who plays his character’s on-off girlfriend Rachel Berry on Fox’s Glee, was said to be “absolutely hysterical and completely inconsolable”. Michele had been busy planning the wedding when she received the news.

Monteith had been battling addiction since his teenage years.

A source said: “It is absolutely tragic. Lea was busy organising what should have been the happiest day of their lives but now she is planning her worst nightmare, Cory’s funeral,” the source commented. “He meant the world to Lea as she did to him. No one can believe he is gone at such a young age. Cory never shied away from his demons and twice he tried to rid himself of them. He was such a huge talent and touched every one he met.”

Meanwhile, another one of Monteith’s co-stars, Matthew Morrison, dedicated a performance of his 54 Below show to his late friend. Morrison, visibly affected, told the audience it was “awkward to be performing so soon after the sudden death of Cory.” However, he moved on with the show, saying: “You guys came to see a show, I came to perform a show, so that's what we'll do. And we'll do it in Cory's honour.”

In honor of his late colleague, Morrison performed What I Did For Love from the musical A Chorus Line. The song had been performed by Lea Michele on the second season of Glee and was perfectly chosen for the somber occasion.

Jayma May Flees Glee's Sinking Ship 3742040 News

Jayma May who plays obsessive compulsive guidance councillor, Emma Pillbury, on Glee will be leaving the show. Rumours have been spreading about the possibility but sources speaking to E! have confirmed they are true.

Jayma May

May will, according to E!'s source, be starring alongside Will Arnett in CBS's drama The Millers. She will be playing the part of Arnett's sister Debbie (a part played in the pilot by Mary Elizabeth Ellis). The Millers follows a family of four Arnett and May as siblings and their parents played by Beau Miller and Margo Martindale. Arnett decides to divorce his wife and his father follows suit. Also starring in the sitcom are Eve Moon and comedian J.B.Smoove.

A number of other cast members have announced they will not be returning to the musical drama including Heather Morris (Britney); Mark Salling (Puck); Harry Shum Jr (Mike Chang) and Amber Riley (Mercedes).

Jayma May will be working alongside Will Arnett on The Millers.

Fans of the show saw her finally marry Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), after four seasons of Emma staring bambi-eyed across the staffroom at him. Surely the writers won't kill off the romance that quickly?

Apparently not, as a Glee source told E! "she's been cleared to appear in a few episodes" of Glee. There is currently no schedule or particularly plans for her future appearances though.

Season 5 of Glee will premiere on 19th September 2013. If fans are missing May too much, The Millers premieres on 26th September, so you won't have long to wait.

Matthew Morrison Announces Engagement To His 'Best Friend' 3739230 News

Matthew Morrison has proudly announced his engagement to model Renee Puente after two years of dating.Well, he didn't actually announce it; it was his good friends Elton John and David Furnish who made the revelation right before bursting into a fitting rendition of Elton's 1970 single 'Your Song' at the annual White Tie and Tiara Ball which benefitted his AIDS Foundation charity.

Although we don't yet know just how the 'Glee' star popped the question, we can only assume it was majorly sweet as he didn't struggle listing off his recent romantic endeavours in an interview with the Huffington Post. Asked what is the most romantic thing he's ever done for Renee, he said: 'Hard to pick just one thing. We are really both into horses. Every new city or place we go, we always try to find a place to go horseback riding. One time in particular, after our horseback riding, we went along this beach in Hawaii. I set up this nice little picnic.' Awwwwww! Though given his love of musicals, singing and dancing, we're wondering if he maybe pulled out the big guns with a flash mob?? But then, this guy's way too modest for that.

Morrison confirmed his engagement with a Tweet to his followers which read, 'An incredible night of LOVE @ejaf Ball. I'm going to marry my best friend! Happy day for me and @Renee_Puente'.

Glee Star Matthew Morrison Celebrates Engagement In London 3738783 News

Matthew Morrison, aka Mr. Shue on Glee is getting hitched! Though many have swooned over his singing and dancing prowess, Morrison is now engaged to girlfriend of two years Renee Puente. The TV and Broadway star is currently in London, England to promote his new album Where It All Began, as well as attend a number of social events. This particular bit of news was announced at the on stage at the White Tie and Tiara Ball by Morrison’s friends Elton John and David Furnish.

While in London, Morrison and Puente also attended the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party.

See more pictures from the event here.

"They are thrilled. It is the first marriage for them both. He loves her so much. The theme of the night was love, which is so appropriate," a source close to the star told E!News. The happy couple even got a serenade from Elton John and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin – they made a duet out of Your Song in honor of Morrison and Puente. Not a bad way to kick off the engagement, but this probably means that they now have to try extra hard to top the impromptu engagement party with their wedding.

The couple has been together for two years.

While in the UK, Morisson is also making time for a number of charity engagements (get it?) Recently, he made a visit to the Great Ormond Street Hospital to meet with patients there. Of course, the visit was well documented on Morisson’s Twitter, with the singer/actor writing: "Such an incredible time at Great Ormond St Children's Hospital. Such brave kids!" On the same charitable note, Morisson also talked to The Independent recently about his plans to launch a network of international private arts schools to combat cuts in educational programmes for music and the arts. "I wouldn't be where I am today if I hadn't found that passion at a young age. I think it's a shame and a travesty to cut that stuff," Morrison said. Looks like the actor has quite a packed schedule for the coming months.

Stars From Both Sides Of Atlantic Shine At Serpentine Gallery Summer Party [Pictures] 3737651 News

The summer social calender is now in full swing and it just wouldn’t be complete without the Serpentine Gallery’s Summer party. This year the event was organised and hosted by L’Wren Scott. The former model and current fashion designer was approached by gallery's co-director, Julia Peyton-Jones, and asked to be involved in this year's event, according to Vogue. Considering the guest list at the exclusive garden party, it is certainly easy to see why the Serpentine summer event counts as one of the highlights of the London season. Everyone – from actors, models and socialites to arts patrons – was out in full force and, of course, in appropriate attire.

From across the pond, Sarah Jessica Parker brought some 1920s glamour to the evening. The Sex and the City star attended the event with husband Matthew Broderick. She wore a silver flapper-inspired Naeem Khan dress and of course, her signature Manolo Blahnik’s.

The supermodels were also in attendance, from the omniscient of late Kate Moss, to Naomi Campbell, who has been a rare site in the past year. Lately, much has been written about Miss Moss’s changing figure, but the 39-year-old supermodel did not need a body double in her stunning outfit, featuring a Saint Laurent tuxedo jacket.

HRH Princess Beatrice on the other hand, went for a dress by the host herself – a blue L’Wren Scott creation with a classic cut – always a wise move on the fashion front.

As for the male attendees, stars of the caliber of Ewan McGregor, Jeremy Irons and American import Matthew Morrison managed to hold their own both in terms of fashion and social skills. All in all, the night was a star-studded success for the Serpentine.

Opening last night, the musical has received mixed reviews whilst some have praised Mendes' take on the classic children's novel as being 'fresh' and something which 'leaves you wanting more', according to Paul Taylor of the Independent. Others have criticised the production for, at times, being over-bearing and too dependent on special effects of which Mendes 'doesn't stint on' according to the Guardian's Michael Billington.Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: the Musicalis following in the footsteps of another Roald Dahl book, Matilda, which has been re-envisioned as musical theatre.

Matthew Morrison - It Don't Mean A Thing 3712885 Videos 10th June 2013

Award-winning crooner and actor Matthew Morrison releases the highly energetic Broadway-esque video to his cover of Duke Ellington's jazz classic 'It Don't Mean A Thing' which is set to feature on his upcoming second studio album 'Where It All Began' out in the UK on June 17th 2013 through Adam Levine's 222 Records.

The video shows the 'Glee' star looking sharp in a grey suit while dancing up and down the street passing several girls in fifties style swing dresses. He dances both solo and together with a girl he meets in a wonderfully choreographed musical style ensemble. The song is a brilliant modern take on one of the biggest jazz favourites of the world but maintains the classic style and doesn't lose any authenticity.

Morrison, who has managed to garner Emmy, Tony and Golden Globe nominations for his work on stages and film sets, is pleased that the album - which features an appearance from the legend that is Smokey Robinson - has finally come to fruition. 'This is the album I've always wanted to make, and I am looking forward to sharing the experience with everyone - I'm so excited to be coming back to the UK to showcase my second studio album to my fans', he says.
