Matthew McConaughey will star alongside Emile Hirsch in new black comedy 'Killer Joe'.
Matthew McConaughey has been cast in 'Killer Joe'.
The 40-year-old hunk will star alongside 'Milk' actor Emile Hirsch in the black comedy, which will be directed by 'The Exorcist' filmmaker William Friedkin.
The movie - scripted by Tracy Letts - tells the tale of a brother (Hirsch) and sister who hire a contract killer and policeman (McConaughey) to kill their mother for the insurance money, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Scott Einbinder from ANA Media and Nicolas Chartier from Voltage will produce 'Killer Joe', which begins shooting on November 8 in New Orleans.
McConaughey's career has been quiet of late; he has not starred in a movie since 2009's 'Ghost of Girlfriends Past' after a string of comedy films including 'Failure to Launch' with Sarah Jessica Parker and 'Fool's Gold' with Kate Hudson.
He has a number of other projects due for release in the near future, including 'The Lincoln Lawyer' with Marisa Tomei and Ryan Phillippe and thriller 'Southbound' with Hollywood beauty Eva Mendes.
