Matthew Mcconaughey - Matthew Mcconaughey Announces His Christmas Day Engagement To Camila Alves

On Christmas Day (December 25, 2011) the actor Matthew Mcconaughey became engaged to his long-term girlfriend, Camila Alves. The Brazilian model is the mother of his two children, Levi - aged 3 and Vida - aged 1 and the pair have been together for five years.

According to CNN.com, MCConaughey proposed to his partner on Christmas Day and announced the engagement to his fans via his WhoSay account with the words "just asked camila to marry me, merry Christmas." The actor surprised his model partner with a diamond engagement ring and they shared a photo of themselves kissing in front of their Christmas tree. MCConaughey and Alves live together with their children in Austin, Texas. A date for the wedding has yet to be announced. MCConaughey is best known for his roles in films such as The Wedding Planner and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Alves, in addition to a successful modelling career, also hosted the third series of Shear Genius on the Bravo TV network.

Matthew Mcconaughey and Camila Alves were not the only celebrities to announce an engagement over the festive period. Holly Valance and NICK CANDY also announced on December 22, 2011, via Holly's Twitter feed that they would also be tying the knot.
