Matt Smith To Carry Olympic Torch
British actor Matt Smith has spoken of his pride after he was selected to carry the Olympic torch through Cardiff, Wales ahead of the London 2012 Games this summer (12).
The Doctor Who star will be the first runner with the torch in the Welsh capital, where the hit sci-fi series is filmed, on Saturday morning (26May12).
He says, "To carry the torch is an honour, one I thought I'd never get. I'm very excited!"
Smith is the latest celebrity to carry the famed flame as part of its 70-day journey around the U.K. - Black Eyed Peas rapper will.i.am ran through Taunton, England on Monday (21May12), while rockers Muse landed the honour in their hometown of Teignmouth, Devon on the second day of the relay.
