Matt Smith - Matt Smith Carries Olympic Torch

The Doctor Who star was given the honour of running with the torch in the Welsh capital, where the hit sci-fi series is filmed, ahead of the London 2012 Games this summer (12).

And Smith was beaming with pride as he greeted fans while pounding the pavements.

He tells Bbc Wales, "I can't believe the number of people who turned up. I thought I would just be waving to the ducks.

"It's strange really, it's the Olympic torch - it's one of those strange occasions in your life that you don't expect to happen. It's a huge privilege and one that's unexpected."

Smith is the latest celebrity to carry the famed flame as part of its 70-day journey around the U.K. - Black Eyed Peas rapper will.i.am ran through Taunton, England last Monday (21May12), while rockers Muse landed the honour in their hometown of Teignmouth, Devon on the second day of the relay.
