Matt Damon Upstaged By A Monkey In 'We Bought A Zoo'?
Writing for Bloomberg, Rick Warner suggests, "The most memorable one (character).is Crystal, a cute, clothes-wearing capuchin monkey who rests on the shoulder of the zoo's handyman". Though Warner wasn't finished there, going on to add, "Crowe's attempts at humor also fall flat, especially a running gag involving a prickly zoo inspector". Revered critic Roger Ebert echoed the sentiments, saying, "The result is too much formula and not enough human interest", with Rob Nelson of Variety magazine adding, "Warm-blooded but largely lifeless". It seems the movie's soundtrack, which includes Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Neil Young, may prove to be a welcome distraction for some viewers. Matt Damon hit the headlines earlier this week after criticizing President Barack Obama's tenure in office, telling Elle magazine, "I've talked to a lot of people who worked for Obama at the grassroots level. One of them said to me, 'Never again. I will never be fooled again by a politican", adding, "A one-term president with some balls who actually got stuff done would have been, in the long run of the country, much better".
After completing promotional duties for We Bought a Zoo, Damon will turn attention to Steven Soderbergh's biography of celebrate pianist Liberace, also starring MICHAEL DOUGLAS.
