Mary J. Blige considers her fans when creating her perfumes.
The singer - who sold 60,000 units of her debut fragrance My Life in six hours when it went on sale on the Home Shopping Network - says it's important for women to have a good-smelling scent and loves it when fans say they are wearing her creations.
She said: "It happens all the time. They say, 'I'm wearing your fragrance, girl!' It feels so good.
"I think about them the way I think about myself. How I like to smell. Not too strong or overbearing but still smart, sexy, feminine, edgy. I think about what women would like to wear."
Mary never thought she would be able to create her own perfume but says it's something she loves and is considering her own range of cosmetics.
She told People: "I never in a million years thought I would be on HSN selling fragrances but it's something that I love and it just feels like a great accomplishment to put your heart and soul into something to give to women."
"I'm thinking about doing cosmetics. The fragrance business with HSN is definitely making me think about going further into the industry."
