Mary Elizabeth Winstead Felt Bad For Ramona Flowers
Winstead, who plays Flowers in the new film Scott Pilgrim vs The World, has revealed that even she was surprised on discovering she could be transformed into Bryan Lee O'Malley's unique character creation. She told MTV News, "I really didn't even know that I could look like that. I think Edgar [Wright] knew that I could put on this wig, this outfit and this makeup and be a completely different person. I was kind of amazed when I first put on the outfit. I was like 'Oh my god! I'm Ramona. This is insane!' So yeah, I was very surprised that I was able to pull it off".
However, Winstead has also confessed to relating to many of Ramona's emotional troubles, she said, "I sort of related to how much [Ramona] doesn't like the situation that she's in. When people are making a fuss over you and you have no control over it and how you kind of just want to disappear from that situation. I felt that was kind of sad and I felt bad for her in a way. And I could kind of tap into that."
The film adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs The World was officially released on 12th August 2010, starring Winstead as Ramona Flowers, and Michael Cera as the eponymous hero.
