Marvin Winans' Alleged Carjackers Charged
21 May 2012Winans was assaulted on Wednesday (16May12) when a small gang of thugs attacked him while he was filling up his vehicle at a gas station in Detroit.
He was forced to hand over his keys and valuables and then his attackers made off with his motor, a burgundy Infiniti Suv (Sports Utility Vehicle), and around $200 (£125) in cash.
The 54 year old, who led the funeral service for Whitney Houston in February (12), suffered minor cuts and bruises in the incident and was left with a broken finger.
Police have since arrested three men in connection to the crime and they were charged with carjacking, conspiracy to carjack, unarmed robbery and conspiracy to rob by Wayne County prosecutor Kym L. Worthy over the weekend (20May12).
Phillip Givens and Christopher Moorehead are both 20 and Brian Keith Young is 18.
