Marvel Announce 'Guardians Of The Galaxy', And 'Thor 2'

According to the head of Marvel studios, Kevin Feige, "phase one" of the company's films ended with 'The Avengers' this summer, though "phase two" is now firmly in production. Announcing four new movies in active development, Feige told a gathered crowd at Comic-Con that 'Iron Man 3' would be released first.

The movie is currently halfway through filming in Wilmington, North Carolina, and will hit theaters on May 3, 2013, with Robert Downey Jr returning as Tony Stark, and Don Cheadle once again playing James Rhodes. Next up, will be the sequel to 'Thor', starring Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder himself. The movie - titled 'Thor: The Dark World' - will also star Zachary Levi and is set for a November 8, 2013, release. The third Marvel movie currently being readied is 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier', directed by 'You, Me and Dupree' directors Anthony and Joe Russo. The movie will see a World War II soldier (Chris Evans) having to fend for himself in the present day. The fourth and perhaps most interesting of the announcements concerns 'Guardians of the Galaxy', a movie set for 2014 depicting the adventures of comic-book characters Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot and Rocket Raccoon.

Marvel did actually have another movie to discuss at Comic-Book, and that was Edgar Wright's 'Ant-Man', which the 'Shaun of the Dead' director has been developing since 2006. Wright - who is working on the movie with JOE CORNISH - joked in a press conference, "I'm taking the Terrence Malick approach to superheroes".
