Martin Sheen Reaches Out To Son Charlie

Martin Sheen has offered his support to troubled son Charlie Sheen, despite the 'Two and Half Men' star saying he doesn't need the help of his family.

Martin Sheen, the Hollywood actor and star of 'The West Wing' has reached out to his son Charlie Sheen after the 45-year-old's recent antics became the subject of a media frenzy.

Speaking earlier this week to Sky News, the 70-year-old actor spoke of his concern for Charlie, saying, "He's an extraordinary man and he's doing well. We pray for him. If he had cancer how would you treat him. This disease of addiction is a form of cancer. You have to have an equal measure of concern and love", adding, "You realise we're not all on the same journey all the time. We have to love that much more. We have to be that much more present". Charlie's brother Emilio Estevez has also voiced his concern about the television star's condition, but Sheen brushed aside their support, telling NBC correspondent JEFF ROSSEN, "They tried. But I said, you know, I'm not ready, I'm not interested in your rhetoric right now. I appreciate your love, your compassion, if that's what you wanna call it. But I'm 45 years old, and I'm not interested in people treating me like a 12-year-old".

Martin Sheen is currently on a promotional tour for new movie 'The Way', directed by his son Emilio. The film follows the story of a father who decides to walk the same ancient spiritual trail in Spain where his son died.
