The Livin' La Vida Loca hitmaker 'came out' in March (10) after years of keeping his sexuality secret, and when he appeared on America's daytime chat show The View on Wednesday (03Nov10), he asked parents to help their kids accept each other despite their differences.
He said, "I think it's about self-esteem and, as parents, we must be telling our children constantly how important they are."
Martin continued with a direct message to fans struggling to understand their identities, adding, "If you're out there and you're struggling with your sexuality, I love you. You are very important to me. You very important to this society.
"God doesn't make mistakes. You are very special. It gets hard sometimes, but it gets really cool afterwards. Accept yourself - it's very cool."
