Martin McDonagh's infectious movie

Martin Mcdonagh thought the mood on the 'Seven Psychopaths' set was ''infectious''.

The 'In Bruges' director says working with his all-star cast - including Colin Farrell, Christopher Walken and Woody Harrelson - was just as fun behind the scenes as it was on set.

Speaking at the Jameson Cult Film Club 'Seven Psychopaths' premiere at London's Oval Space on Tuesday night (27.11.12), Martin told BANG Showbiz: ''We had a laugh. It was such a lovely bunch of actors. Everyone was very professional, we did the work really well but it was fun too.

''We didn't really go out partying or going to pubs or anything like that, but every day was kind of a joy for me. When you're doing a comedy it's kind of infectious around the set. So it was a joy to watch.''

Despite bonding during the production process, their one regret was not getting drunk together so they're trying to make up for lost time now filming has wrapped.

Sam Rockwell - who plays oddball actor and part-time dog thief Billie Bickle in the black comedy - insisted: ''We didn't have time. We've been trying to catch up after the press junket and things by getting drunk!''

Martin confessed: ''We were really boring when it comes to that kind of stuff. We try and put the fun stuff up on screen instead.''

The satirical film tells the story of struggling screenwriter Marty (Farrell) who gets caught up in the criminal underworld when his friends kidnap a gangster's pet pooch, and Martin revealed he and Colin share a mutual hatred of banal violent action movies.

The Irish filmmaker said: ''Both Colin and I - and me and the character - share a questioning of violence in films and think there is a more interesting place to get to. So I think I'm probably more similar to Colin in that way than I am to the character in this.''
