Chris Martin - Martin And Albarn Help Raise Thousands For Haiti

Rockers including CHRIS MARTIN and DAMON ALBARN have helped raise more than $192,000 (£120,000) with a memorabilia auction in aid of earthquake-stricken Haiti.

Emily Eavis, the organiser of Britain's famed Glastonbury Festival, planned the eBay auction to support a rebuilding program in Haiti after it was devastated by the massive tremor last month (12Jan10).

A jacket worn by the Coldplay frontman on their Viva La Vida tour fetched $15,360 (£9,600), while a print by modern artist Damien Hirst pulled in $20,248 (£12,655).

Eavis says, "When we first had the idea of an auction for Haiti I never imagined we would raise so much. This should really help to rebuild some of what was lost."

A song written by Damon Albarn for the highest bidder also went under the hammer, as well as a private concert by the Magic Numbers.
