Mark Wahlberg's Ted Shocks With Amazing Opening Weekend
Mark Wahlberg's shocking new R-rated comedy Ted has stunned Hollywood by over-performing at the box office on its opening weekend (29Jun-01Jul12).
The film, in which The Fighter star plays sidekick to a foul-mouthed teddy bear, has debuted at number one with a stunning $54.1 million (£33.8 million) three-day take, breaking The Hangover's box office record for the biggest R-rated opening in the U.S.
Male stripper movie Magic Mike also enjoyed success at the U.S. box office, debuting at number two with $39.2 million (£24.5 million) in ticket sales.
Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection also had a strong opening weekend, making $26.3 million (£16.4 million).
