Mark Millar: Fantastic Four reboot will defy expectations

Mark Millar claims the 'Fantastic Four' reboot will be radically different from any other superhero film.

The 'Kick-Ass' co-creator has hinted that director Josh Trank's reboot of the popular 2005 blockbuster - on which Mark will work as creative consultant for Fox - is set to surprise fans with its fresh, modern take on the genre and will be peppered with a good dose of humour.

He told SciFiNow: ''From what I've seen and from talking to [Trank] - he and I have had dinner a couple of times and we talk quite regularly as well - he's contemporarising it. I think he's just making it work for the screen - he's a great storyteller.

''What I wasn't expecting actually was just how funny and likeable he could make this as well as getting the more awesome moments on screen - I use awesome in the traditional British sense and not the California sense awesome, you know?''

'Fantastic Four' starred Iaon Grufford, Chris Evans, Jessica Alba and Michael Chiklis as a group of astronauts who gain superpowers after a cosmic radiation exposure and use them to defeat their evil arch-enemy.

Mark claims 'Chronicle' filmmaker Josh is the perfect choice to helm the new film - based on Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's comics - and thinks it can compete with recent hits likes 'Avengers Assemble' with its spectacular special effects.

He teased: ''The Ridley Scott moments, and the 'Fantastic Four' really are jaw-dropping in the same way you feel when you saw 'Alien' for the first time. There's some moments in this - not to be specific - that are actually gonna be phenomenal on screen and stuff you haven't seen in a superhero movie before.''
