Marina And The Diamonds To Play Ben And Jerry's Sundaeby Contributor | 14 May 2009
Hotly-tipped singer-songwriter Marina and the Diamonds has been confirmed for this summer's Ben and Jerry's Sundae on the Common.
The Obsessions singer, expected to dent the charts later this year after well-received sets at the Camden Crawl, will play on Saturday July 25th at the annual south London festival.
Joining Marina on the Saturday will be Orange UnsignedAct winner Tommy Reilly while the Answering Machine and Camera Obscura will take to the stage on Clapham Common on Sunday July 26th.
As well as revealing the first bands to play this year's event, Ben and Jerry's have announced the launch of the Moo Sessions, which will give one lucky band the opportunity to play in front of a crowd of up to 15,000 people.
Marina Diamond herself will be part of the judging panel for the Moo Sessions and said the competition was an "amazing opportunity" for new artists.
"It will give them great exposure in front of a large audience at one of the coolest festivals around," she added.
"I can't wait to hear some of the undiscovered talent out there and look forward to seeing them play their hearts out on the day!"
To enter, aspiring solo artists and bands should log on to www.benjerry.co.uk, answer the key question "What are the key ingredients in your band?" and submit a video or audio clip of their act in action, along with a photograph before June 8th 2009.
The lineup so far for the 2009 Sundae on the Common is:
Sat July 25th I am Kloot, Marina and the Diamonds, Tommy Reilly
Sun July 26th Camera Obscura, Red Light Company, The Answering Machine
(Headliners for both days to be announced shortly)
