Marilu Henner - Marilu Henner To Release Book About Autobiographical Memory
MARILU HENNER, the 58-year-old American actress best known for her role on the sitcom 'Taxi', is set to release a book detailing her 'gift' of having autobiographical memory, reports The Los Angeles Times. Yesterday (20th December 2010), Henner appeared on the 'The Early Show' to demonstrate her talent for being able to remember every day of her life so far.
The book entitled, 'An Unforgettable Life - Yours: Lessons Learned from an Autobiographical Memory' is due out next spring and will explain how Henner came to acquire the talent and how it has affected her life. On yesterday's show, co-anchor LESLIE STAHL quizzed the actress to see how accurate her memory really was. After being asking what she had done on 26th October 1976, Henner replied by saying, "1976 was a Tuesday. Oh, I went to shoot a ring-around-the-collar commercial in Venice, Italy", which was later confirmed as being correct.
Although scientists are still unsure as to the finer details of the 'gift', DR JAMES MCGAUGH, professor of neurobiology at the University of California-Irvine says unlocking the keys to the 'autobiographical memory' could be a new chapter in neuroscience, saying, "We think we knew a lot and all of a sudden, these people come and display a kind of memory we've never seen before, and we have to say, Woo, what is that about?"
