Marie Osmond - Marie Osmond Hospitalized After Vocal Chord Scare
Marie Osmond was admitted to hospital on Wednesday evening (26th October 2011) after suffering vocal chord problems while on stage with brother Donny in Las Vegas. According to Reuters, the 52-year-old began complaining of tightness in her lungs, leaving her unable to perform.
Hours later, Marie was diagnosed with a bad case of bronchitis and released from hospital. Despite her illness, the singer remained upbeat, tweeting on Thursday, "So the allergies went into a bronchitis.Didn't realize it until I went to hit the high notes last night on stage. Pie Jesu was kinda P-U". The singer and her brother currently have a residency at the 750 seat showroom at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, performing a daily 90-minute variety show. Backed by eight dancers and a nine piece band, the duo perform a selection of their biggest hits, with solo segments in between. Recently, the pair extended their contract until October 2012. Donny and Marie are no strangers to performing together - in 1976, they began hosting their own television variety show, aged just 18 and 16 years old, respectively. As the youngest entertainers in television history, the pair became an instant success and the show ran for three years.
Marie is still best known for her cover of country pop ballad 'Paper Roses', which topped the Billboard Country Charts in 1973.
