Mariah Carey - Mariah Carey's Recording Session In Bed

Mariah Carey refused to stop working during her pregnancy - she had a studio set up by her bed for a recording session.
The Hero hitmaker gave birth to twins Moroccan and Monroe in April (11), but carrying the babies took its toll on the singer.
However, rather than fully resting, Carey summoned her music pals to her bedside to record a song she wrote during her pregnancy.
She tells Fuse, "I have done one song - I was pregnant when I was writing it. I was in so much pain. I was laying on this bed and we had a studio set up in the room. JD (Jermaine Dupri) was there and Randy Jackson was playing bass live and it was just this whole moment. I love it a lot."

Robin Thicke's New Album Titled 'Paula': Ten More Cringe-Worthy Album Titles 4241333 News

In perhaps the most audacious and downright ridiculous move the music business has witnessed in the last few years, singer Robin Thicke has announced his new album will carry the title of Paula, which by some strange coincidence just happens to be the name of his estranged wife- actress Paula Patton.

Thicke and Patton at 56th Grammy AwardsThicke and Paula in more happy circumstances.

To say such a public declaration of love is cringe-worthy would be an understatement, it is such a trite attempt at reconciling with his wife that is seems like something straight out of Spinal Tap. You can imagine the album title sitting quite comfortably alongside the likes of Smell The Glove and Shark Sandwich. As if that wasn’t irksome enough, Thicke’s debut single from the album is entitled "Get Her Back” and it sees the ageing crooner positively straining to exude as much heartfelt sincerity as he can before he gives himself a heart attack.

Does the man know nothing of the art of subtlety? Let’s hope Paula is partial to extravagant and hugely public gestures of love or else poor Robin will be left looking a bit silly, leaving the album’s concept and ensuing campaign as a rather pointless exercise. However, I’m sure the vast quantities of money thrown in his direction will buoy his spirits enough that Thicke won’t revert to severe depression should Paula reject his grandiose advances. In light of Thicke’s album, we have compiled a list of ten equally ill-conceived album titles that make even Thicke’s idea to name it after his estranged wife look like a rational decision.

Butthole Surfers – Stairway To Steven

As if possessing one of the most intentionally crude monikers in music wasn’t enough, the Butthole Surfers also bestowed their albums with a series of terrible names including such half-puns as Hairway To Steven. Other album names include the likes of Locust Abortion Technician, Psychic… Powerless… Another Man’s Sac, Rembrant Pussyhorse and Ploughd. As album titled go, they are rather in keeping with the music, which is equally weird and perverted and it made sure the band’s penchant for subversion stretched to every facet of their output.

Limp Bizkit – Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavoured Water

Fred Durst At 2014 Billboard Awards
Fred Durst's lyrical inginuity stretched into their album titles.

A double whammy here for the boys in Limp Bizkit, as they possess not only one of the worst album names of all time but a cover equally horrific in its vulgarity. It’s unclear quite what drug the band were on when they came up with this terrible concept but considering the band’s music is equally childish and obnoxious as both the album’s cover and namesake it’s fair to say they were probably stone cold sober when they dreamed it up. It is a fact that anyone who even smirks at the name of this album, especially the “chocolate starfish” part, is a bona fide moron.

Kid Rock – Rock n’ Roll Jesus

Kid Rock at Tiger Woods Foundation
If Kid Rock is the rock n' roll Jesus, does that make Insane Clown Posse his disciples?

I suppose if anyone was going to title their album Rock n’ Roll Jesus it was going to be Kid Rock, that hillbilly rap/rock fellow who isn’t afraid to jump on whatever musical bandwagon is rolling through town. A master of douchebaggery, Kid Rock’s declaration that he was the Messiah of rock n’ roll wasn’t met with such eager response by critics but somehow shifted 3.5 million copies in the US alone thanks in part to the success of single “All Summer Long”.

Crispin Glover – Big Problem Does Not Equal The Solution. The Solution = Let It Be

Crispin Glover Attends National Movie Awards
A post-meltdown Glover.

During his post Back To The Future meltdown phase, Crispin Glover busied himself making albums that mixed terrible music and awful spoken word poems in new and increasingly horrific way. The liner notes also carried the phone number of Glover, so that any fans who could be bothered to try and interpret what the ‘Big Problem’ was could call Glover’s personal line and see if they were correct. As of 2007, the phone number has been disconnected, and it seems the ‘Big Problem’ is condemned to being a mystery for the rest of eternity.

Mariah Carey – Me. I Am Mariah … The Elusive Chanteuse

Mariah Carey Attends The Fresh Air Fund
Me. I Am Mariah .... Struggling To Find An Identity.

Far from a transcription of the opening exchanges of the average Mariah Carey conversation, Me. I Am Mariah … The Elusive Chanteuse is the genuine title of the R&B singer’s new record. It rather succinctly contains all of the tropes Carey is most well-known for: narcissism, self-absorption and absolutely no concept of reality. What’s more, Carey is far from elusive. Rather, she has been a ubiquitous presence in popular culture for the past twenty years or so and it comes across as a desperate attempt to carve out a semblance of identity. Nice try Mariah.

Will Smith – Big Willie Style

Will Smith - Scientology Style.

What exactly is Will Smith trying to imply here? In this recurring album title pun, used at least five times per season on The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, Will Smith is either incredibly forthcoming about the state of his manhood or very proud of his self-styled attitude. Either way, Big Willie Style is a pretty woeful name for an album of rap-lite, high-charting hip-hop that spawned singles ‘Miami’ and ‘Getting Jiggy Wit It’, all without dropping a single expletive.

Westlife – Allow Us To Be Frank

Westlife Performs At Their Final Ever Show
Reports suggest Frank Sinatra cringed from his grave at the title Allow Us To Be Frank.

The boys in Westlife probably thought it was a work of literary genius when someone suggested that an album of Frank Sinatra covers should be entitled Allow Us To Be Frank. “Wordplay!” shouted Brian McFadden, as the rest of the group postponed their weekly chest waxing to congratulate each other on such a momentous occasion. “Ah that’s great guys”, chimed Louis Walsh, “but can we get back to the waxing? I’ve got a chest like a Galway meadow at the height of summer here.”

Needless to say, the first connotations most people will think of when they hear the phrase ‘Tissues and Issues’ will be the unspeakable actions that take place in teenage boy’s bedrooms. Somehow, seemingly no one at Charlotte Church’s record company possesses a mind of such filthy incantations, which seems awfully strange because as everyone knows, those in the music business have some of the most depraved minds of any profession. Luckily for Charlotte, the album bombed and most of the public were saved from exposure to such an all-round awful piece of work.

Cher – Not.Com.Mercial

Cher In Concert At The MGM Grand
As we can see here, Cher has yet to suffer an identity crisis.

A deadpan album title if there ever was one because Cher is as commercial as they come and followed on from the massive album Believe, which introduced the world of pop to the possibilities of auto-tune. So we have Cher to thank for partially talented singers who dress up their lacklustre vocals with all manner of digital fakery, then? Not.Com.Mercial also sees Cher jumping onto the internet bandwagon (“Not.Com”- get it? Just like the internet!) which is probably the most concise method of making an album seem incredibly dated.

Mariah Carey Fails To Land Billboard No.1 as Coldplay Reigns Supreme 4231035 News

Mariah Carey was beaten to the Billboard 200 top spot this week after her record "Me: I Am Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse' entered at No.3 with 58,000. It matched the effort of the last non-holiday studio effort, 2009's Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel, which debuted at No.3 with 168,000.

Mariah CareyMariah Carey Had To Settle for No.3

It was Coldplay's Ghost Stories that held onto the top spot for a second consecutive week, selling 83,000 to take overall sales to over 460,000. It makes it the sixth-largest-selling album of 2014, with the Frozen soundtrack way ahead with 2.5 million, according to Billboard.

Coldplay beat out Brantley Gilbert's Just As I Am, which remained at No.2 with 65,000 (69 per cent). Essentially, Mariah - who collects her 17th Top 10 album - has done pretty well NOT to top the chart here, what with two week-old albums holding their spots.

It's Carey's smallest opening for a non-holiday studio album since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991.

ColdplayColdplay Kept The No.1 Spot With 'Ghost Stories'

Chanteuse was originally earmarked for a March 2013 released but was then pushed to July 23, before being brought forward to May 6 and then finally May 27. The album's most recent charting single, You're Mine (Eternal), spent one week at No.88.

Elsewhere on the chart, Austin Mahone's debut EP The Secret is No.5 with 46,000 while the Now 50 compilation is a non-mover at No.6. Michael Jackson slips to No.7 with Xscape and The Black Keys' Turn Blue is at No.8 Crowder's Neon Steeple is at No.9 and Iggy Azalea rounds things out with The New Classic - which sold 18,000.

Is Axl Rose Really The World's Best Singer? 4222108 News

Axl Rose is infamous for many reasons. His constant late appearances, sometimes taking to the stage almost two hours after their billed start, means every recent Guns n’ Roses tour is dogged by disgruntled fans and a swathe of bad press. The singer is notorious for his cantankerous temperament which has resulted in numerous cancelled appearances and YouTube-worthy angry rants that would give even Kanye West’s irritable soliloquys a run for their money. He is so surrounded by criticism that it is no surprise the frontman’s vocal attributes are often overlooked.

Axl Rose Performing At The Hard Rock Hotel, Las VegasRose has posted a bashful response to the award of "World's Best Singer"

Now, the singer has been named as the best vocalist of all time on a recently published chart, an accolade that is extremely misleading given the nature of the basis for which the award has been meted out to the rock legend. The award is based on versatility in vocal range rather than any consideration for tone, grain or strength which are commonly considered as the most endearing vocal traits.

Yet the ageing rocker emerged as head of the pack, beating 76 other artists whose vocals were analysed, including the likes of Steven Tyler, Prince and Mariah Carey, who are all known to possess voices able to traverse multiple octaves with ease. It was Rose’s unique ability to hit the hallowed B Flat 6 note which he sings on ‘Ain’t It Fun’, a cover of a Dead Boys song from the band’s 1993 record The Spaghetti Incident, which tipped him to the position. Mariah Carey possesses the highest note on the chart, hitting an almost incomprehensible G 7 on her track ‘Emotions’, yet it is Rose’s ability to mine the deep bass notes as well as a shrill falsetto that led to his position as head of the pack.

Axl Rose Gives Opinion On Being Named 'World's Greatest Singer'. Read More Here.

Online commentators were quick to point out the misleading nature of the award and the lack of consideration toward any element other than vocal range. Nevertheless, Rose has responded to the praise with a reaction that many will see as uncharacteristic given the singer’s penchant for self-absorption and mindless hedonism. He stated: “It’s very flattering and humbling to be included in such an illustrious ensemble.” Rose was then asked his own choice of the best singers in music, the ensuing list was almost exclusively procured from the 60’s and 70’s, including the likes of Elvis Presley, Janice Joplin, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, James Brown and Freddie Mercury.

Rose signed off his statement with a rare use of self-deprecating humour, saying “I would rather hear ANY of them anytime rather than me!” he concluded. The rock mainstay is currently working on the follow up to the long-awaited comeback album Chinese Democracy, whilst the band are currently enjoying their second residency at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.

Mariah Carey Discusses New Album's Title And Artwork 4177079 News

Queen Diva Mariah Carey has released the artwork and track listing for her upcoming album, titled 'Me.  I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse'.   Yep, that's really what she's called it.  There seems to be a little photoshop at play on the album cover, we’re almost certain that Mariah isn’t 6 foot 2 with legs like Elle Macpherson. We’ve not come to expect anything less from her though, so this isn’t too much of a surprise.

Mariah Carey new album Mariah Carey has released the title, track listing and artwork for her upcoming album

On the back cover is a self-portrait of the singer, allegedly the only self-portrait she has ever drawn. Above it the words, “I am Mariah.” Scribbled when she was just 3 and a half, the singer asks us not to judge the simplicity of the drawing, and explains in a short audio clip, “C’monnn, I was only 3 and a half. It was a creative visualisation of how I saw myself with the purity of a child’s heart before it was ever broken.” So, yeah, it’s a scribble.

Throughout the audio recording Mariah breathlessly explains the artwork and title of the album, all the while strange canned chuckles chime up each time she says something we assume she means to be a bit funny. If you have to put in the laughs, they probably weren’t there to begin with.  Just sayin'.

MORE: Mariah Carey's children will feature on her album

She continues to explain how she came up with the name of the album. “I’ve been through a lot, but I’ve always known me. I am Mariah.” She catalogues past nicknames, including Mimi and MC, before saying, “Lately they’ve been calling me ‘the elusive chanteuse.’” Question. Who is ‘they’?

Mariah Carey Following In Beyonce's Footsteps With New Album 4168317 News

It seems as though Mariah Carey may be following in Beyonce’s footsteps when it comes to the release of her new album. Billboard revealed that Mariah will reveal full album details, including the title, track listing, music and artwork, simultaneously via digital partners, who have yet to be announced.

Mariah Carey Beyonce album Mariah Carey is expected to follow in Beyonce's footsteps, with a surprise album release

The move echoes Beyonce’s most recent album release for her 2013 self-titled album. The "Drunk In Love" singer's 2011 album “4” had not reaped the expected results, similarly Carey’s 2009 album “Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel” had seriously underperformed, resulting in the cancellation of a planned remix album. When Beyonce released “Beyonce”, her fifth studio album, in December 2013 there had been no prior announcements or forewarning.  The move was hugely beneficial, Mariah may be hoping for a similar outcome.

Carey’s upcoming album, which the singer has been working on since 2010, will be her 14th. “I have to be the one that announces this, especially the title,” Carey told Billboard, adding that the album itself is named after a “personal possession of mine that’s part of an entity that I’ve had almost all my life.”

It’s expected that the week following the surprise release Carey’s new album will have a physical release and will be available to buy in stores.

Mariah Carey wants Nick Cannon to keep sex list private 4137797 News

Mariah Carey wants Nick Cannon to keep his ''whorish'' past to himself.

The 'Hero' hitmaker has expressed concern to her husband of six years after he shamelessly discussed his previous sexual partners, which include Kim Kardashian, Christina Milian and Nicole Scherzinger, during a radio interview on Power 106.FM last week, as she wants him to keep their sex life private.

Speaking on Mariah's reaction to his sex list, Nick told Huffington Post Live: ''[Mariah] said to me, 'Oh yeah, by the way could you keep your whore-ish past to yourself if you're doing any interviews?' I was like, 'Got you.'''

Nick - who has twins Moroccan and Monroe, two, with Mariah - admits being ''brutally honest'' does get him into trouble, but defended his decision to discuss his sex list by insisting his dating history is already public knowledge and he was in a loving relationship with all the celebrities he named.

He added: ''I'm brutally honest. I'm honest to a fault. [But] that's old news. Everybody I named I was in a relationship with, in love with, had been seen on red carpets with, had done several interviews with, so it wasn't like it was this big revealing list like I was Lindsay Lohan or something.''

Meanwhile, the 'America's Got Talent' host insists being quizzed on his sexual history was inappropriate because he's married and argues Brad Pitt - who has been with Angelina Jolie for 10 years - doesn't get probed on his sex life.

Nick added: ''You wouldn't ask Brad Pitt these questions, because he's got one hell of a list.''

Mariah Carey made Nick Cannon 'wait' 4128476 News

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon didn't sleep together until their wedding night.

The 'Hero' singer - who have two-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe together - made her spouse ''wait'' to consummate their relationship until they tied the knot in the Bahamas in April 2008, and he wanted to give her the best possible experience

Asked when they first slept together, Nick said: ''On our wedding night, honeymoon style, in the Bahamas. That's a real woman there, make you wait, til you got married. Seriously, 100 per cent.

''We didn't [know if it would be good]. The first time I made love to my wife was on our wedding night. I'm a pleaser, I went in like, 'Man, she's gonna love this'. I f**ked the s**t out of her.''

The 33-year-old star is still amazed he got together with his ''celebrity crush'' and thinks his determination to land a date with her won out.

Speaking to Big Boy on hip hop radio station Power 106, he said: ''I spoke it into existence, I went hard at it, People would ask, 'Who's your celebrity crush?' 'Mariah Carey'. I'm gonna show up at concerts, be backstage. Persisting. There's a fine line between stalking and persisting.''

The 'America's Got Talent' host also revealed some other famous names he had slept with - and joked he didn't think Kim Kardashian would remember their encounter.

He said: ''It's LA! That's the whole purpose, you have sex with actresses, singers, models...

''Name five? Mariah Carey, Christina Milian, Nicole Scherzinger, Selita Ebanks, erm... Oh, Kim Kardashian! Bam! Five. I bet she's forgot because there's been a lot of people since me. She's a great girl though! Her family are some of the most incredible people I ever met in my life.''
