Maria Shriver - Maria Shriver Divorces Arnold Schwarzenegger
Maria Shriver has filed for divorce from movie star and former Gov. of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the New York Times understands. Maria Shriver, who is the niece of the assassinated former US President JOHN F. Kennedy, has moved out of the couple's multi-million dollar Brentwood home, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple had separated earlier this year, after Schwarzenegger revealed to Shriver that he had fathered a child with a former household employee.
Divorce papers posted on the TMZ website show that Ms. Shriver is asking for custody of their two sons, aged 13 and 17, and is also asking for Schwarzenegger to pay all legal fees and provide spousal support. A source revealed to TMZ: ".Arnold and Maria are on speaking terms and Arnold knew beforehand that she was filing divorce papers. Maria is telling friends she hopes this will be an easy and amicable divorce." The papers also show that the couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement, meaning that their total earnings will be split 50/50. Schwarzenegger has long been dogged by rumours of infidelity and aggressively pursuing women, and when these rumours came to the fore during his election campaign for Governor of California, many cited Shriver's reassurances as key to him winning the election. Mr. Schwarzenegger's spokesperson, Adam Mendelsohn, declined to comment.
