Manolo Blahnik hates women in platform shoes.
The Spanish-born designer - whose creations are worn by the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Kylie Minogue - often says he does not mind what shoes women chose to wear, but he is not a fan of platforms on anyone.
He said: ''I hate platforms. The young girl who is a bit chubby, or whatever, she thinks platforms make her look taller. But no, they just make her look weird.''
Having said that, Manolo - who now lives in the British city of Bath - is fond of unusual shoes, as long as the wearer is comfortable at all times.
He added: ''I love exaggerated, and I love eccentric, but you must be comfortable.
''Otherwise it is nonsense. There is nothing charming about a woman who cannot walk in her shoes.''
Discussing his past, Manolo admits he finds it difficult to look back.
He told The Guardian newspaper: ''I keep looking ahead and thinking about challenges, because that's what keeps me going. If I look back I feel frightened, not happy, because my life is a bit of a mystery to me.''
