Musician Ryan Adams and singer/actress Mandy Moore have married less than a month after announcing their engagement.

Thirty-four-year-old singer-songwriter Adams and former teen star Moore, 24, married at a small ceremony in Savannah, Georgia, on Tuesday, Moore's representative has confirmed.

According to People.com, the celebrity couple went unrecognized as they sealed their nuptials this week.

Moore had earlier this year explained she did not want her wedding to Adams to be a "big deal".

"Hopefully, it can happen and slip by unnoticed by everybody," she told Marie Claire.

"I guess we have to be sort of sneaky about it, but I'll see what I can accomplish."

She added: ""I kind of feel like, because I've been able to get married in a few films, I kind of got the whole giant wedding fuss out of my system."

Adams, best known in the UK for his hits New York, New York and a cover of Oasis' Wonderwall, announced in January that he planned to move away from music for the foreseeable future to work on three books.

His last album with country-rock band the Cardinals, Cardinology, was released in October last year.
