A man escaped with minor injuries after tumbling from the window of a Broadway theatre.

The unnamed man, in his 60s, was leaning against a windowsill at the Lyceum Theater prior to Sunday's (19May13) matinee performance of The Nance when he slipped and fell.

The lucky theatre-goer avoided serious harm when he landed on the venue's famed marquee which stretches one storey high across the sidewalk. He was photographed being carried away from the scene by firefighters and was taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

A source tells the New York Daily News, "He went over the windowsill and out. He lost his balance."

The performance of The Nance, starring Nathan Lane as the title character, was not affected by the incident.
