Madonna's Escaped Stalker Captured By Police
Lapd spokesman Richard French said Mr Hoskins was returned to the facility after his initial arrest. Police didn't comment on how the highly dangerous patient managed to escape, or where he had been hiding for the last week. In 1996, the 54-year-old began serving a 10 year prison sentence for stalking pop superstar Madonna and threatening to slit her throat. After months of threats, he was eventually shot and captured while attempting to scale the wall of the singer's Beverly Hills home. In a case that made headlines in the 1990's, the singer reluctantly stood yards away from Mr Hoskins in court and spoke of having "nightmares" about him. She told prosecutors, "I feel incredibly disturbed that the man who repeatedly threatened my life is sitting across the room from me. I feel we are making his fantasies come true". The capture of Hoskins will come as a relief to both Madonna and the Lapd, who had described him as a "very psychotic man" who had "very violent tendencies".
Hoskins on the run in California would have capped off a tumultuous couple of days for Madonna, whose performance at the Super Bowl half time show on Sunday (February 5, 2012) was overshadowed by rapper Mia's middle finger gesture to television cameras.
