Madonna M.i.a's 'Teenage Antics' Were Not Appropriate For The Family Show
Madonna has slammed M.I.A for flipping the middle finger during her Superbowl XLVI Half Time Show last weekend (5th Feb 2012). Madonna has revealed that she thought M.I.A's 'teenage antics' were not appropriate for the family show.
The global superstar has revealed that she is disappointed in the British rapper who flipped the finger to cameras when she appeared for the rendition of 'Gimme all your Luvin' at the show. Talking to Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM, she stated: 'I wasn't happy about it. I understand it's kind of punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy and positivity, it seemed negative. It's one of those things, it's such a teenager, in a way, kind of irrelevant kind of thing to do. There was such a feeling of love and unity there, what was the point? It was just out of place.' Madonna still argues that she didn't know what had happened until afterwards: 'To tell you the truth, I didn't even know about it. I didn't know about it until I left. I found out about it in the elevator, actually. I was really surprised. I didn't know anything about it.'
The TV station, NBC Sports, has issued an apology for the act, whilst a spokesperson said: 'We apologise for the inappropriate gesture that aired during halftime. It was a spontaneous gesture that our delay system caught late.' Madonna's new album 'MDNA' will be released on the 26th March 2012.
