Madonna Heads UK's Live Earth Concert

Madonna is one of 17 acts to headline this summer's Live Earth concert in the UK.

She will be joined by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow Patrol, the Beastie Boys and Duran Duran.

Taking place at Wembley Stadium on July 7th, the concert is one of seven being held across the world on the same day with the aim of using music to engage people worldwide in the fight against climate change.

"This monster line-up will ensure Live Earth meets our goal of bringing together people from around the world to combat the climate crisis," said Live Earth founder Kevin Hall.

"Live Earth will not only span all seven continents, but the musicians who have answered our call span multiple genres and generations."

Live Earth co-chair and former US vice president Al Gore, who has been a vocal campaigner against climate change, said that the concerts will help to give the "tools" people need to "solve the climate crisis".

"But ultimately, corporations and governments must become global leaders taking decisive action to stop global warming," he added.

Tickets go on sale for the Wembley concert on Friday April 13th.

Other headliners include Black Eyed Peas, Bloc Party, Corinne Bailey Rae, Damien Rice, David Gray, Foo Fighters, Genesis, James Blunt, John Legend, Keane, Paolo Nutini and Razorlight.

Additional performers will be announced at a later date.
