Mad Men Cast Talk Season 5, Jon Hamm Talks Kim Kardashian

Mad Men's cast and crew were on the 'Today' show ahead of the hugely anticipated fifth series kicking off on U.S. television screens this week, and they touched on many topics of conversation that have arisen during its 18 months departure from the box including the hiatus itself, how it might eventually wind down and Jon Hamm's tiff with Kim Kardashian, of whom he'd previously labelled, alongside other reality stars, as an "idiot."

Reflecting on the show's break, John Slattery commented "It's an unfortunately long hiatus, but I think now you can DVR shows, you can actually find the show in ways you couldn't before. So we're actually hoping it whetted peoples' appetites more."

For Hamm meanwhile, the issue of reality TV was still on his mind, reflecting "It's a part of our culture that I certainly don't identify with and I don't really understand the appeal of it other than that car-crash sensibility," and adding "It's not something that I partake in or enjoy, but it is what it is and here we are. There are a lot of channels on the dial, and those channels have to be filled up with things. ... Different strokes for different folks." And of the show's creator Matt Weiner? He doesn't even want to think about the end of Mad Men yet, saying, "For me, I think that they want the tension alleviated, that there is a plan or something," adding, "but for me I really don't even want to think about it ending yet."
