Lydon Rejected Gorillaz Offer

Punk star JOHN LYDON snubbed a chance to join DAMON ALBARN's band GORILLAZ - because he refused to record music bowing to "popular trends".
The Sex Pistols frontman, also known as Johnny Rotten, was asked to record vocals for the Gorillaz album Plastic Beach, alongside Lou Reed, Snoop Dogg and members of The Clash.
But the rocker wanted no part of the project.
He tells Britain's Daily Star, "They gave me a bell (call) but the answer was no. I really don't want to be dabbling in other people's gene pools. I've worked with many so-called famous people over the years but it's never been for any deliberate financial motivation.
"If I did it wouldn't be a business phone call followed by a management agreement and then for an album manufactured and marketed as to what the current popular trends were."

How can anyone say that Damon Albarn follows 'popular trends' - Mr Lydon would know this (with hindsight) if he listened to Plastic Beach or infact any of Gorillaz albums. Surely everyone knows that Damon dabbles in a kinds of music?

Oh whatever. I love Damon and I love Lydon ( because I adore the Sex Pistols and Lydon's whole persona) but its almost his 'job' to be disagreeable, isn't it? That's what we like about him. So whatever. I don't care. Just ROCK ON BOYS! And big kisses to both of ya!
