Luke Bryan - Luke Bryan Initially Snubbed Acm Awards Co-presenting Offer
Singer Luke Bryan initially turned down the chance to present the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards but reconsidered after learning Blake Shelton would be his co-host.
The stars will oversee the Las Vegas ceremony on Sunday (07Mar13), but Bryan reveals he almost missed out on taking charge of the ceremony - because he didn't think he could live up to the success of past emcee Reba MCEntire.
He tells Great American Country Tv, "I said, 'I just don't know if I'm ready for something like that.' I felt like it was a little early in my career. I think I had said, 'I kinda want to enjoy being at the show for a few years,' because it's still new to me being at the show and performing, and so I just wasn't ready to leapfrog."
However, Bryan was quick to accept the offer when he learned who he would be presenting with: "About a month later they got back with me, and they said, 'You may have misunderstood us, but it's gonna be you and Blake together.' And I was like, 'Oh my God, I'm in.' That's a no-brainer. I know Blake will have my back up there if I get to scrambling too bad."
Bryan is nominated for four honours at the prizegiving, and he'll go head-to-head with Shelton for the Entertainer of the Year prize.
