Lucy Lawless Awaiting Court Hearing Following Arrest
Lucy Lawless was among a group of Greenpeace activists arrested four days ago after climbing aboard an oil-drilling ship to prevent it from leaving a New Zealand dock. The group had assembled atop an 174-foot drilling tower of the Shell-chartered ship which was moored at Port Taranaki - it had been due to drill exploratory wells in the Arctic.
Lawless was one of seven arrested and charged with burglary, all have since been released and are awaiting a court hearing. On Friday the actress had spoken to The Press Association and said of the stand "I've got three kids. My sole biological reason for being on this planet is to ensure that they can flourish, and they can't do that in a filthy, degraded environment," adding "We need to stand up while we still can."
Since being arrested and released however she hasn't tweeted since February 29th - having said on her account that she'd got home on February 27th; prior to that she'd been explaining to her followers the importance of her cause, tweeting at one point "Fossil fuels will darken our future. Only renewable energy will enhance it. We owe it to our kids to fight for clean energy!" Lawless is probably best known for her role as Xena in 'Xena: Warrior Princess'.
