Courtney Love - Love Threatens To Sue Author Over Deposition Papers
Courtney Love has threatened to sue an author who unlawfully obtained copies of confidential court documents, filed by the Hole star's daughter Frances Bean Cobain in 2009.
Cobain, then 17, filed a restraining order against the singer after alleging her mum's reckless behaviour contributed to the death of her two childhood pets.
Copies of the sealed deposition papers fell into the hands of author Maer Roshan and he recently made the details public in new book Courtney Comes Clean.
However, a furious Love has vowed to take legal action against Roshan for publishing the confidential documents - because the author was never privy to such private information.
Love's lawyer, James Janowitz, tells the New York Post, "I was the lawyer who worked on these (family court) proceedings in Los Angeles, and the filing was confidential and sealed as is customary in these kind of cases. I don't know how they were disclosed... When I find out what happened, we will take the appropriate legal action.
"For somebody to meddle in such private and personal matters is pretty reprehensible. We can say that all of the statements made about (Love) relating to the court filings, her daughter and other personal matters are false."
However Roshan still stands by his work: "I honestly regret that Courtney is upset... As most people know, Courtney is not a model of discretion... The details of the deposition are absolutely true, and I stand by every word in the book."
