Louis-dreyfus + Sykes To Wed On Tv
Former Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus has entered the same-sex marriage debate by marrying comedienne Wanda Sykes in an episode of U.S. sitcom THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE.
In the season opener, which airs on Wednesday night (24Sep08), the actress agrees to wed her pal Barb (Sykes) after she learns she is in danger of being deported to the Bahamas.
The straight couple stage a gay wedding in the backyard of Louis-Dreyfus' TV home.
Same-sex marriages were made legal in California in May (08) but a steering group is fighting to appeal the ruling. Californians are being asked to vote for or against gay marriage when they vote for a new President in November (08).
