Lost Star Begins Jail Termby Contributor | 24 December 2007
Lost actress Michelle Rodriguez has begun her six-month jail term for violating the terms of her probation.
Rodriguez checked in to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood near Los Angeles on Sunday, the same unit that housed Hollywood starlets Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan.
Unlike their brief spells in prison, the 29-year-old has been ordered to serve her full six months in the overcrowded jail.
Rodriguez was sentenced in October for violating the terms of her probation for earlier charges of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol.
She admitted failing to complete community service obligations and drinking alcohol on at least three occasions while wearing a monitoring device.
Rodriguez is no stranger to jail, having served just four hours and 20 minutes of a 60-day sentence in May 2006 for violating probation terms following a DUI arrest.
She rose to fame in the film Girlfight in 2000 before having roles in The Fast and the Furious and Resident Evil. The actress then became a household face for her portrayal of Ana-Lucia Cortez in 24 episodes of Lost.
Rodriguez is not the only Hollywood star spending Christmas behind bars; 24 actor Kiefer Sutherland is also in jail on a DUI charge.
