Boris Johnson - London Mayor Enters Dispute Over Madonna Gig

London mayor Boris Johnson has waded into a dispute over noise levels which threatens to put a damper on Madonna's upcoming summer (12) concert in the city's Hyde Park.
Residents living close to the green space have lodged numerous complaints over the noise from gigs there and local officials have put together plans to reduce sound levels and cut crowd capacity from 80,000 to 50,000.
They also want to curb the number of concerts staged in the park.
Madonna is due to play at Hyde Park in July (12), followed by Bruce Springsteen days later, and John Probyn, boss of concert promoters Live Nation, fears the new restrictions could ruin gigs and discourage artists from playing there.
He tells British newspaper the Evening Standard, "The sound levels allowed in Hyde Park are already lower than any other venue in the country. If they reduce it any more then artists simply will not want to play the venue."
However, London leader Johnson hopes a solution can be reached, adding, "We're very much hoping that Hyde Park will continue to be a great venue for London for the future. Obviously we need to meet the concerns of residents but Westminster will hopefully address those and Hyde Park will continue to be a great venue for London.
"I want to see Madonna in Hyde Park and so does everybody else. I hope a good solution will be reached this week."
